5. Remember the two new believers – Ms Cheah San San (Mass Communication) & Ms Kok Hui Fun (A-Level).
6. Suffering Churches: Saudi Arabia - Recent news about the promised "release" of nine of the 14 Christians detained in Saudi Arabia has taken another turn for the worse, according to International Christian Concern (ICC). ICC added that the promised "release" has turned out to be untrue and their detention could continue for another several months. Some have already been detained for nearly six months. Conditions are very bad. Some 200 to 300 prisoners are crowded into one room. Some of the prisoners have committed dangerous crimes. We sleep on a cold concrete floor. The food is prepared in unsanitary conditions and should be fed only to pigs. The toilet is filthy and overcrowded. There is poor ventilation in the cells and the rain leaks into the building. Five of the men are sick, suffering from dysentery and influenza. One needs insulin. None have received medical attention." All 14 men were arrested between July and September. None were formally charged. According to ICC, the reason for their arrest is likely related to their involvement in expatriate house churches that meet in private homes. Saudi Arabia's strict interpretation of Islamic law prohibits public worship by members of faiths other than Sunni Islam.
Uganda - An American missionary was shot dead near Mbale, in Uganda, on Dec. 28, according to Uganda's "The New Vision" newspaper, and reported by Assist News Service (ANS). The Ugandan newspaper said that thugs who broke into his residence at around 3 a.m. gunned down Mike Stachofsky, 59. The assailants have not yet been arrested. Stachofsky, who comes from the state of Idaho, had been working with a Christian organization assisting people in the rural areas drill wells and install water pumps. He had worked in Lira district since 1996 and had constructed a health center called the Whole Nation's Christians Care Center. He moved to Mbale early this year. The American missionary is to be buried at the same place, according to his wife, Pattissue, who also said there was no need to transport the body to the United States.

10. DEPENDENCE ON GOD - Someone once asked Hudson Taylor, “What is the secret of your success?” His reply was, “I am weak enough to depend on God and quiet enough to listen to Him!” Being weak and dependent on God is the lesson we have been learning in recent times and the Lord has been teaching us to depend more and more on Him - Gim & Wye Choon in Sudan (Dec 2001).
11. Chong Mei Lin - Pray for her as she ministers to the teenagers at the RBS in Camerons.
